The Works of F. Robert Kelly
MY COUNTRY, MY LOVE, MY LIFE
In this land of sunburnt deserts,
In this land of rolling plains,
I listen and the trees are getting cleared,
And know it will not change.
And in the early morning,
As I watch the sun arise,
I think of our breathtaking, pale blue horizons,
And I wish that I could fly.
With the sky so blue,
And the mountains so high and wide,
When we abuse this lucky country,
It makes me want to cry inside.
With lands of brown,
And seas of blue-ish green,
A more beautiful and wondrous land,
I haven't yet seen.
With so many animals,
So rare and so true,
When I hear of their killings,
It makes me so sad and blue.
But with a lot of different terrains,
Over this land oh so great,
I would go and view the sweeping plains,
To miss it would be a mistake.
This country is so old,
And yet it is so wise,
The pollution of this welcoming home,
Goes on before our very eyes.
So before felling a tree,
Or even killing a Roo,
Sit back and think how good Australia,
Has been to me and you.
This land is slipping away,
And fading back to black,
But thanks to land claims titles,
The natives are taking it back.
So join with
And strengthen the fight,
Be Australia's shouting voice,
And march with us cause it's our right.
Raise your hands,
And shout with rolled up sleeve,
YOU ARE AUSTRALIA!
MY COUNTRY, MY LOVE, MY LIFE!!
